At Your Behest

No no...don't worry this isn't a music post.

Chad Hunt, who some of you may have seen posting a few questions and comments before, just sent me a link to his collection of photos taken while embedded with some soldiers here in Afghanistan.

They can be found here.

Largely, they are of the parts of this country (outside of Kabul) and a part of a particular life here (the foreign soldier) that I will likely never see. And they are great photos too. Go look.

Thanks very much for the link! I have passed it to my mom to pass it to a woman whose son is presently serving in Afghanistan... he can't send a lot of pictures and anyway, people like us can never manage to capture it all like photographers can.

I think she will really be pleased to get these. I know I was. The memories come flooding back...

Chad,
Thanks for the link to the photos and sharing. As I'm sure others have told you, and the folks here, they are wonderful. (Also checked out the photos on your page, and those are great as well.) If you ever come back, and I'm still here, I'd love to meet up.

Aaron, Welcome, and I agree.

E, All thanks go to Chad. Also, Slate put up a retrospective of photos from Afghanistan from 2001. I'll just put a post/link up on the main page.
